Of course there is much more to discover in our Ardennes. But here are some of the many fun things to do in the Barvaux-Durbuy area.
The CASTLE OF LOGNE is located in a remarkable location on the Ourthe. The fortified castle sits atop a hill, which is actually a rocky outcrop peppered with caves. You can enjoy an exceptional view of the valley and the peaks of the Ardennes. The kids can take part in a treasure hunt. If you can find the code word, a nice surprise awaits at the exit. You can also enjoy a snack or drink on the property while the kids continue to enjoy themselves in the playground. There are also shows with birds of prey, you can go kayaking, mountain biking, mini golf and much more...
ADVENTURE VALLEY has a huge range of indoor and outdoor activities. Including kayak, caving, MTB with guide, tubing slide, mega zipline, escape rooms and much more. Lots of adventure for young and old in the beautiful nature of Durbuy.
The giant CORN LABYRINTH with animations by real actors is the main attraction. But the other 9 zones also offer enriching and entertaining experiences... Discover the door labyrinth, the dark world, blind in the maze, tickle your feet, the biodiversity labyrinth, the organic vegetable gardens and the pumpkin patch from July 7 to 7 October.
PARC CHLOROPHYLLE was built from the remains of an old Safari Park, in the heart of an immense forest. It is located close to the municipalities of: La Roche-en-Ardenne, Erezée and Durbuy. The 9 hectare park, unique in its genre, gives the visitor the opportunity to discover the world of the forest in an original way. One of the main attractions of Park Chlorophylle is the walkway that you can walk to the tops of the trees. Children can enjoy themselves in the thematic playground adapted to the forest. The various animations, made of wood, are entirely dedicated to nature and environmental conservation.
There are several caves in our Ardennes. But the HOTTON CAVES are slightly less touristy than, for example, the caves of Han. And therefore, in our opinion, much more pleasant and educational to visit. Ideal to do on a rainy day.
DOMAINE DE HOTTEMME is a nature reserve near Barvaux. The domain is an old estate that has been transformed into a park and protected nature reserve. You can follow various walking routes and who knows, you might spot wild boars :-)
FORESTIA is about a 30 minute drive away and offers two major activities: a zoo and adventure park. The zoo mainly contains animals that have disappeared from our nature, but also animals that live in our climate. You can also feed most of these animals yourself. In the adventure park, young and old can have fun on all kinds of climbing courses.
The NINGLINSPO is the only mountain river in Belgium and the walk that runs along this river has the same name. The Ninglinspo is a unique walk in the Ardennes and we recommend everyone to take it. Located in the south of the Ardennes, near Aywaille and Remouchamps, you can enjoy the beauty of nature, the waterfalls, the adventurous trails and the wild character. These ingredients make it an unforgettable walk. The total distance from the Ninglinspo is about 6 km and takes you through the most beautiful part of the Ardennes. This walk is suitable for children aged 6 and over. The start is about a 20-minute drive from our home. Sturdy walking shoes are recommended. From our own experience, we recommend starting the walk in the morning to enjoy the views in silence. It can sometimes get busier from the afternoon onwards.
Don't feel like cooking yourself? Then you can without a doubt go to restaurant LES HAZALLES. It is within walking distance of our house and you can enjoy a hearty Belgian meal after a long walk, a quick snack in between or a nice regional beer in the Ardennes atmosphere. The restaurant is within walking distance of our house and is run by a Flemish family. Hostess Joke will be happy to welcome you. Open from 10am - 11pm. Closed on Mon and Tues.
