Charming B&B with perhaps the most beautiful view over the Axarquía
On the border of the Sierra de Tejeda Almijara y Alhama nature park, at the foot of la Maroma, you will find El Refugio, a small-scale Bed and Breakfast. The road ends three kilometers past the village of Alcaucín and you feel like you are at the end of the inhabited world. Here you can enjoy phenomenal panoramic views of the Axarquía valley with the nearby La Viñuela reservoir and the Boquete de Zafarraya mountain range.
In the middle of nature you can completely relax by the pool or in one of the lovely other places in the garden. But if you want more action, it is close by. Walking, cycling, a trip past authentic white villages, a visit to the royal cities in Andalusia, a day at the beach, etc. It is all possible from our B&B!
El Refugio offers four attractive rooms with private entrance, two of which are comfort rooms and two spacious suites. All rooms have an en-suite bathroom with all amenities. El Refugio is not suitable for young children, but everyone from the age of 15 is welcome.

The white picturesque village of Alcaucín is located in the Axarquía region at the foot of the Sierra Tejeda that borders the province of Granada. It has preserved the old Moorish style with its charming narrow streets, white houses and its eternal fountain. Alcaucín has a few small village shops for daily shopping, banks/ATM and several bars and restaurants.
The municipality of Alcaucín is rich in medicinal waters (the spring of Las Majadas) and minerals (the springs of Espino...). Hiking enthusiasts can follow the Ruta del Santo which ends at the top of La Maroma (2069m), in the Sierra de Tejeda. Less intensive but just as beautiful is the Ruta de Jabelí or the Ruta Botanica, which is at its best especially in spring with its blooming flowers.
El Refugio is easily accessible. Search for 'El Refugio Alcaucin' in Google Maps and from the village you can also follow the signs for El Refugio. The last 300 meters is an unpaved road with a short steep section halfway through, but passable with a normal car. As soon as you see a beauty of oleanders, you have arrived at our Boutique B&B El Refugio.
Torre del Mar beach is only 25 minutes drive, Malaga (airport) is approximately 60 minutes. You can reach Granada in 1h15.
