Casa Mimo, holiday without worries

As soon as you enter the gates of Casa Mimo, you are in your own world of luxury and tranquility.

Leave everything behind and lose yourself in this fantastic house and its lovely garden.

When you walk through the terrace gate covered with bougainvillea, you immediately notice the large swimming pool, surrounded by the typical local “Santa Katarina” tiles. Here you can enjoy yourself and occasionally make a refreshing splash if the Portuguese sun gets a little too hot for you.

The eye-catcher of the house is the eira, a large round terrace next to the swimming pool that used to serve as a combine harvester. From the Eira you can enjoy the breathtaking view over the valley (the “Vale Grande”) with a snack and a drink that opens out to the ocean that shines in the distance. The built-in BBQ and lounge area complete the picture.

There is something to discover in every corner of the large garden. From the raised terrace you have a good view of the beautiful mature trees that rise above the garden, with dozens of different palm tree species standing next to them waving proudly in the wind.

As you take the stairs into the garden, you immediately notice the beautiful agaves and cacti, which are typical of the region because they thrive in dry conditions.

But there is also a lot of life in this garden. Dozens of frogs bask in the sun along a small pond. At dusk, with a bit of luck, these fellow residents will treat you to a unique croaking concert.

Several fruit trees have also been planted in the garden. Be sure to taste the home-grown oranges or apricots. Or enjoy a slice of homegrown lemon in your Gin Tonic (or would you prefer a sprig of the rosemary bush?). Don't forget to be surprised by the fruit of the various persimmon trees, a lesser-known but delicious cross between a tomato and a peach. Also delicious with a slice of ham!

Mimo means “a treat” in Portuguese. And you can take that literally here. Everything is provided in the house to give you a carefree holiday.

Enjoy the delicious local coffee and tea and immerse yourself in Portuguese scents from the local soap provided. Listen to your favorite relaxation music via the Bluetooth speaker, or discover the typical Portuguese Fado. A TV with Apple TV and Chromecast and excellent WiFi ensure that you don't miss any of your favorite Netflix series in Portugal. But don't stay inside for too long, because Casa Mimo's greatest assets can be found outside.

For those who don't feel like lazing around outside, there are various board games and a kubb game for the garden. For really active holidaymakers, there are also various walking and cycling routes available in an app. Thanks to this handy app, you always have all the information about the house and the surrounding area at your fingertips.

Inside, a modern style was combined with traditional Portuguese elements. The cozy living room has a fully equipped kitchen with island and a sunny lounge where you can curl up in front of the fireplace on less warm days.

With its 3 bedrooms, the house offers space for 6 people, with 2 double beds and 2 single beds (which can of course also be pushed together). The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower and there is also a separate spacious bathroom, also with a walk-in shower.

Casa Mimo is located in Santa Barbara de Nexe. A typical cozy village with no more than 2 large streets. Here you will find a small supermarket and a few restaurants and you can go for a drink with the locals in the morning 'um copo de café'.

The unique central location is particularly convenient. Casa Mimo is no more than a 20-minute drive from everything you need: the airport, the beach, but also the larger supermarkets where you will find all the delicious products to complete your stay.

Be surprised by Casa Mimo, only saying goodbye will be difficult.
